A prominent religious leader has called on Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji to urgently address an eight-month power outage and deteriorating infrastructure affecting communities in Ise-Orun and Emure local government areas.

Prophet Adegboyega Ologbonyo, Zonal Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Boanerges, expressed deep concern over the prolonged blackout that has severely disrupted local businesses and caused significant hardship for residents.

"As someone who has lived and worked in these communities for over 26 years, I can testify to the ongoing challenges residents face," Ologbonyo stated. "The lack of functioning pipe-borne water has been a persistent issue throughout this period, and there has never been a time when such water supply was available for public use."

Multiple Infrastructure Challenges

The cleric highlighted that residents must invest significant time and resources to secure water, a basic necessity. He also drew attention to the poor condition of road networks in the area, describing them as detrimental to economic development and daily movement.

"Most of our people are farmers. Constructing motorable roads that connect farms to urban centres would substantially enhance local economic activity," he explained. "Critical roads linking Uso, Ijan, and Agbado to Ise-Ekiti, as well as Emure-Ilé to Ọwọ, are in urgent need of attention."

Ologbonyo warned that the deteriorating infrastructure has created security vulnerabilities that criminal elements, including kidnappers, are exploiting. He cautioned that if left unaddressed, these conditions could deter potential investors and hamper the region's economic growth.

Appeal to Governor

In his appeal to Governor Oyebanji, the religious leader expressed confidence in the governor's leadership: "I know His Excellency to be a responsive leader who prioritizes the welfare of citizens. It is based on this belief that I respectfully bring these issues to your attention."

He urged the state government and relevant stakeholders to take immediate steps to restore electricity, provide access to clean water, rehabilitate roads, and improve security in the affected communities.

"These are not merely developmental aspirations, they are essential needs that will significantly improve the standard of living for our people," Ologbonyo added.
