The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has narrowly escaped death after a private jet he was traveling in experienced engine failure mid-air, according to reports and video evidence that has surfaced online.

The frightening incident reportedly occurred a few days ago, with footage capturing the critical moments as pilots struggled to maintain control of the aircraft. In the background of the viral video, a voice believed to be Wike's can be heard praying fervently as the situation unfolded.

Minister Confirms Incident in Church Testimony

On Wednesday, Wike confirmed the harrowing experience by sharing his testimony in church. In the video that has since gone viral, the minister can be seen recounting the terrifying ordeal to a congregation, expressing gratitude for his survival.

Popular media personality Tunde Ednut shared the testimony video on social media, writing: "I posted a story yesterday about a private jet that had engine failure, but I didn't call any names. Well, Wike has finally shared the story himself in church; he gave a full testimony about the same incident. Some of you were already guessing in the comments that it sounded like Wike's voice. Well, I guess now you know. Hear it straight from the horse's mouth!"

The incident has sparked conversations about aviation safety and the maintenance protocols for private aircraft in Nigeria. Aviation experts note that engine failures, while rare, represent one of the most serious emergencies pilots can face, particularly at high altitudes.

Neither the minister's office nor aviation authorities have released official statements regarding the specific cause of the engine failure or the make and model of the aircraft involved in the incident.

Wike, a prominent political figure who previously served as Governor of Rivers State, has been active in his role as FCT Minister under President Bola Tinubu's administration.

This incident comes amid his recent controversial decision to rename the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja after President Tinubu, which has generated significant public debate.
