First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu's support for Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah stems from the President's commitment to backing leaders who utilize public funds for the benefit of citizens.

Mrs. Tinubu made this disclosure during the commissioning of the Technical, Vocational Education and Training College (TVET) in Enugu, as part of her two-day working visit to the state.

Judicious Use of Resources

The First Lady acknowledged the increased federal allocations to states under the Tinubu administration and emphasized the importance of responsible leadership in managing these resources.

"I am really excited. Like some critics will say that Mr. President is really in support of the governor here. Now your allocation has tripled," she stated.

"The president will be happy to associate with the people who are using the resources of this nation judiciously. And this is part of it. And we are excited," Mrs. Tinubu added.

She praised the state's development trajectory, noting that "The slogan for Enugu state is 'Tomorrow is Here' and tomorrow is indeed here. This is just a glimpse of a better tomorrow that our children and even generations yet unborn will enjoy."

Transformative Education Project

The TVET College commissioned by the First Lady replaced a dilapidated Government Technical College that was demolished about 11 months ago. The new facility features 24 ultra-modern skill training centers and hostels capable of accommodating 1,000 resident students. Additionally, two Smart Green Schools were constructed on the premises.

Governor Mbah, in his remarks, explained that this project is the first of eight Technical, Vocational Education and Training Colleges planned for each of the state's eight Federal Constituencies. He emphasized that the initiative aims to equip youth with skills necessary for the future.

"We are profoundly honoured and delighted that you were able to make out time to commission the TVET, Government Technical College," the Governor stated.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, provided further details about the project, highlighting that the centers include facilities for ICT and Digital Innovation, Renewable Energy, Welding and Fabrication, Auto-Mechatronics, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Electrical Installation, Fashion Design, and Hospitality Training, among others.

President's Previous Endorsement

This is not the first time President Tinubu has expressed support for Governor Mbah's administration. During his official visit to Enugu on January 4 to inaugurate projects executed by the Governor, President Tinubu had stated that performance matters more to him than political affiliations.

"He is doing a fantastic job. The election is over and we have to move the nation forward. You have demonstrated that irrevocable commitment towards human development. I don't care which party you come from. You are my friend. You are doing well and very focused," the President had said at the time.

The commissioning of the TVET College represents a significant step in Governor Mbah's vision to transform education in Enugu State, moving from traditional memorization-based learning to experiential education that prepares students for the demands of the modern workforce.
