Former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has delivered a scathing assessment of President Bola Tinubu's administration, stating that while the president excels in political maneuvering, he is failing significantly in governance.

In a recent interview, Adebayo questioned how Tinubu could establish any meaningful legacy given what he described as a stark contrast between the president's political acumen and governance capabilities.

"You have to give President Tinubu an A1 in politics. The only problem he has with the A1 is that he tends to have F9 in governance," Adebayo remarked. "So how is he going to graduate into any substantive legacy? That is a problem because the A1 politics is that he knows the political class very well."

Understanding Political Class vs. Serving Citizens

According to Adebayo, Tinubu has mastered the art of managing the political class, understanding their motivations and interests. "He knows what moves and motivates them, and he knows how to recruit them, sometimes retrench them, retire them and reengage them because he knows what they want," he explained.

However, the former presidential candidate pointed to what he sees as a critical failure in the president's approach to governance, particularly regarding security challenges across the country.

"If he cannot save lives in Benue, Plateau and many parts of the country, then he has failed," Adebayo stated emphatically.

The Real Opposition

Adebayo accused the president of miscalculating by assuming that Nigerians are not interested in politics and that by capturing institutions and politicians, he could eliminate opposition parties.

"The real opposition would come from the electorate," he warned, adding that those attempting to turn career politicians into opposition figures would face challenges.

"Because it's only when they are dropped off from the list of ministers, board appointments, that is the only time they remember that they need to make this noise so that they can be brought back," Adebayo observed.

The criticism comes amid growing concerns about the administration's handling of various national challenges, including security issues and economic policies that have sparked debates across the country.
