A heated altercation between Edo State Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Air Peace staff disrupted flight operations at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall) in Lagos on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred around 6:10 am when Oshiomhole arrived at the terminal for his 6:30 am flight to Abuja. Upon arrival, the senator reportedly demanded to be boarded, stating he had completed online check-in procedures.
However, Air Peace released a statement on Wednesday claiming the boarding process had already concluded and the flight had departed as scheduled when Oshiomhole arrived at the terminal.
"Upon being informed of the missed flight, the politician resorted to violence, physically assaulting our staff and forcefully barricading the terminal's entrance," the airline stated. "He went as far as sealing the entry gate and manning the access point, effectively obstructing other passengers from gaining entry into the terminal."
As of the time of this report, Senator Oshiomhole has not officially responded to these allegations.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions between high-profile passengers and airline operators regarding boarding protocols and flight schedules in Nigeria's aviation sector.
