Chairman of the Delta Obedient Elders Council, Chief Chris Biose has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu's administration, accusing it of failing to acknowledge the severity of Nigeria's security challenges.

Biose, who previously served as Deputy Chairman of the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) in Edo State, expressed his concerns during a recent interview with Arise TV, highlighting the wave of killings by terrorists across the country.

Institutional Problems Remain Unaddressed

The elder statesman described the security crisis as "an institutional problem that is deep-rooted" and lamented that the current administration has failed to give it adequate attention.

"The pathetic situation in Nigeria affecting human rights, particularly the right to life is that the authorities do not seem to recognize the enormity of the problems," Biose stated.

He referenced a recent statement by a government minister claiming no journalists were detained under Tinubu's administration, while contrasting this with the reality that "everyday, people are being killed in every part of the country and those killing the innocent ones are not being called to book."

Call for Security Sector Reform

According to Biose, the lives of Nigerian citizens are "being squeezed out by non-state agents and even state agents," yet the government appears reluctant to implement necessary reforms.

"The surgical operation that is required in the security services, particularly the police and the military to solve these problems is not being addressed by the current administration," he emphasized.

The Delta elder's comments come amid growing concerns about the deteriorating security situation across Nigeria, with terrorist attacks, kidnappings, and communal clashes continuing to claim lives in various parts of the country.

Biose's critique adds to mounting pressure on the Tinubu administration to take more decisive action in addressing the security challenges that have plagued Nigeria for years.
