APC chieftain Joe Igbokwe has addressed rumors of a political rift between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, stating that those celebrating the alleged fallout will be disappointed as the matter has been resolved.

Igbokwe, a prominent voice in the All Progressives Congress, claimed that some political observers have been eagerly anticipating an escalation of tensions between the president and the governor, whom he described as Tinubu's "son."

"Some people have been celebrating the infractions between PBAT and his son Gov Sanwo Olu thinking that it will escalate. No sir, it can never happen," Igbokwe wrote. "The leader has always been a wise man from day one. All is forgotten and the case rested."

Viral Video Fuels Speculation

Speculation about a potential fallout between Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu gained traction following the emergence of a viral video that appeared to show the president ignoring the governor at a public event in Lagos State.

The incident sparked widespread discussion about the relationship between the two political figures, with Tinubu widely regarded as Sanwo-Olu's political godfather and mentor.

Political analysts have noted that any significant rift between the president and the governor of Nigeria's economic capital could have far-reaching implications for governance in Lagos State and potentially impact the internal dynamics of the ruling APC.

Political Relationship History

President Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor himself, played a crucial role in Sanwo-Olu's political ascendancy, backing him for the governorship position in 2019. Their relationship has been characterized by strong political alignment, with Sanwo-Olu often described as a loyal protégé of the president.

Igbokwe's statement appears aimed at quelling rumors and reassuring party faithful that the perceived tension between the two leaders has been resolved internally, emphasizing Tinubu's wisdom in handling such matters.

Neither the president's office nor the Lagos State government has issued an official statement regarding the alleged rift or its resolution.
