An Israeli drone strike on Tuesday killed a Lebanese father and son in the southern village of Shebaa, with another son reported injured in the attack, according to Lebanon's health ministry and state-run National News Agency.

The Lebanese health ministry confirmed the casualties, stating: "An Israeli enemy drone carried out a strike in the village of Shebaa, killing two people and wounding one." The Israeli military has not yet issued any statement regarding the incident.

Escalating Tensions Despite Ceasefire

This fatal attack represents the latest escalation in hostilities despite a ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024, which was intended to end the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. The strike follows growing tensions after Israel conducted a major air raid on south Beirut last week, an action Lebanese officials condemned as a serious breach of the truce.

According to local reports, the victims were members of a local family and were outdoors when the drone targeted the area.

Last Friday, Israel warned it would continue operations against Hezbollah targets throughout Lebanon, despite international concerns over civilian casualties. This warning followed Israeli airstrikes on what their military described as underground Hezbollah drone manufacturing facilities in Beirut's southern suburbs.

Hezbollah, which receives backing from Iran, claimed that the Beirut strikes destroyed nine residential buildings. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun characterized the attack as a "flagrant violation" of the truce deal reached on November 27, 2024.

The timing of the strike is particularly sensitive, occurring just days before Eid al-Adha, one of Islam's most significant holidays, further intensifying tensions in a region already deeply affected by ongoing conflict.

This incident highlights the fragility of peace agreements in the region and raises questions about the sustainability of the current ceasefire arrangement between Israel and Hezbollah.
