Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has revealed that Abia State Governor Alex Otti of the Labour Party is supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite their different political affiliations.

The revelation came following Kalu's recent visit to Governor Otti in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, where the senator dismissed concerns about the strength of opposition coalitions ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

"We are not into any coalition. All I know is that Otti is supporting Tinubu, and Tinubu is supporting Otti; that is my deal. I am not into coalition," Kalu stated in a video released by Channels Television.

APC Dominance Ahead of 2027

The senator further downplayed the significance of the coalition reportedly being formed by former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, along with other political figures like former governors Nasir El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi.

According to Kalu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the dominant political force as the country looks toward the 2027 general elections. This assertion comes amid growing speculation about opposition parties uniting to challenge the ruling APC in the next presidential election.

BenriNews previously reported that Kalu described Atiku, Peter Obi, El-Rufai, and Amaechi as "friends and brothers," suggesting personal relationships that transcend political differences.

The revelation of Otti's alleged support for Tinubu raises questions about political alignments in Nigeria, particularly as the Labour Party governor has been seen as part of the opposition to the ruling APC government.

Governor Otti has yet to publicly respond to Senator Kalu's claims about his political relationship with President Tinubu.
