The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued a comprehensive list of requirements that clubs must meet to secure stadium approvals for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
According to a memo sent to all clubs by NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, functioning standard LED floodlights and backup generators for electricity supply have been highlighted as critical infrastructure requirements.
Key Infrastructure Requirements
The league management emphasized that clubs must ensure all infrastructure is ready and fully functional before the routine stadium inspections commence. The memo warned that failure to meet these requirements could affect clubs' ability to use their primary home grounds in the upcoming season.
"Clubs are advised to make all infrastructure ready and fully functional before the routine stadium inspection," the memo stated. "Failure to meet the requirements may affect the usage of the primary home ground in the upcoming season."
While these new standards aim to improve the quality of match venues across the league, the NPFL has yet to announce the official commencement date for the 2025-26 season.
The move comes as part of ongoing efforts to raise the standard of Nigerian club football and align with international best practices for sporting facilities.
