The Liberal Progressive and Patriotic Members Congress (LPPMC) has called for a united national coalition to rescue Nigeria from what it described as an oppressive and disastrous administration.
In a statement issued by Dr. Kingsley Okundaye, National Coordinator of LPPMC, the organization expressed solidarity with progressive forces, civil society organizations, and opposition parties working to liberate Nigeria from its current governance challenges.
"Nigeria is plunged into unprecedented economic hardship, insecurity, and institutional decay. The Naira has collapsed, fuel prices have skyrocketed, millions face hunger, and terrorists operate freely while the government shows neither competence nor compassion over the years," Okundaye stated.
The LPPMC coordinator criticized both the PDP and APC, describing their legacy as "one of broken promises, corruption, and sheer incompetence, a betrayal of the mandate Nigerians entrusted to them since the inception of democracy in 1999."
Call for Unity Among Opposition Forces
According to the statement, only a united opposition can successfully challenge the ruling party, which allegedly uses state power and resources to suppress dissent. The group drew parallels to 2015 when a coalition of opposition parties successfully unseated an incumbent president.
"Today, we face a similar battle, but the stakes are higher. The already existing weaponized poverty, division, and state machinery to cling to power, but the Nigerian people are waking up. LPPMC hereby declares its full commitment and participation in this rescue mission and urges all progressive Nigerians to join forces under this coalition," Okundaye explained.
The LPPMC described itself as a movement of patriots committed to creating a Nigeria that works for all citizens, not just a privileged few. The organization called on opposition parties to set aside their differences and unite for victory in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Mobilizing for Change
The statement also urged labour unions, student groups, and civil society organizations to mobilize for mass action. Additionally, it called on the media to hold those in power accountable and amplify the voices of the people.
"Government may have the money, but we have the masses. They may have propaganda, but we have the truth. They may try to rig, but we will defend every vote," the National Coordinator asserted.
Okundaye expressed confidence that the 2027 election would be Nigeria's redemption day, stating that "the coalition is unstoppable, the people are ready, and change is inevitable."
