Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved the establishment of a state-level committee aimed at curbing drug abuse across the state. The committee, which will be headed by Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, is designed to complement the efforts of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Deputy Governor Farauta announced the governor's approval on Sunday during a special church service held in honor of the departing NDLEA Commandant in Adamawa State, Samson Agboalu.

"Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved a Drug Control Committee to ensure zero tolerance for drug abuse in the state," Farauta stated during the event. She emphasized that the state government would leave no stone unturned in its efforts to combat the menace of drug abuse, stressing the importance of creating a drug-free society.

Speaking at the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries church in Yola where Agbaolu's thanksgiving service took place, the Deputy Governor added, "We must train our children to take over leadership from us as good citizens." She also expressed gratitude to the outgoing NDLEA Commandant for his services to the state and wished him well in his future endeavors.

In his remarks, Agboalu highlighted that the establishment of the drug control committee and the constitution of the Ngurore-Numan checkpoint had already contributed to reducing robbery and drug trafficking in the state.

The service was presided over by Pastor Osita Egbebuike, Regional Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, who encouraged the congregation to serve God faithfully and provide material support to both the church and humanity.

This initiative comes as part of broader efforts by the Adamawa State government to address social challenges and improve security across the state.
