England manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed dissatisfaction with his team's performance despite their 1-0 victory over Andorra in Saturday's 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Captain Harry Kane scored the only goal of the match, but Tuchel was visibly frustrated with what he described as a "lack of urgency" from his players after the opening 25 minutes of the game.

Tuchel's Critical Assessment

Speaking to ITV Sport after the match, Tuchel didn't mince words about his team's display against the minnows. "I think we started quite well in the first 20-25 minutes, that was the only part where I had the feeling it was a matter of time," he said. "We lost completely the momentum [and] couldn't get it back through the whole first half."

The German tactician further emphasized his disappointment, stating: "It is still a World Cup qualifier away from home. I didn't like it at all."

Tuchel confirmed that he had made his feelings clear to the squad in the dressing room after the match. "All the players know because I said it in the dressing room," he revealed, adding that a detailed analysis of the game would follow. "It is also necessary to have a look in detail and watch the match again."

Perfect Record Under New Management

Despite his criticism of the performance, Tuchel has maintained a perfect record since taking over from Gareth Southgate, winning all three fixtures so far. The victory against Andorra continues England's positive start to their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign.

However, the manager's comments suggest he is setting high standards for the squad as they continue to build toward the 2026 tournament, demanding more consistency and intensity even against lower-ranked opponents.

England's next qualifier will be against Senegal, with Tuchel having already named his squad for both fixtures.
