The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to end what it described as "profligacy, exploitation, deceit and manipulations" that have allegedly brought untold hardship to Nigerians.

In a statement released on Friday by National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the opposition party congratulated Nigerians on the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebration while urging citizens to reinforce their faith in Allah despite the current economic, security, and social challenges facing the nation.

PDP Expresses Concerns Over National Situation

The party expressed deep concerns over what it termed "the pervading sense of gloom in the country" and "worsening insecurity where the nation has become a large killing field." According to the PDP, citizens have been left at the mercy of terrorists, bandits, and marauders while facing unbearable economic hardship due to what they described as "reckless mismanagement of national resources by the insensitive APC administration."

The opposition party charged the APC administration to revamp the productive sector and initiate healing in the nation by ending corruption and reviewing all anti-people policies. Specifically, the PDP called for a reduction in fuel costs, electricity tariffs, and charges on critical services.

Call to End Reckless Borrowing

The PDP demanded that the APC administration immediately cease what it described as "mortgaging of the nation through reckless borrowing" that cannot be tied to any corresponding life-enhancing projects or programs in the country.

In a bold accusation, the party challenged the Federal Government to recover over N30 trillion allegedly stolen by "known APC leaders through various fraudulent oil deals and other funds frittered from government agencies under the APC administration."

"Such stolen funds must be recovered and channeled towards the provision of critical infrastructure, revamping the productive sector and enhancing the operations of our security agencies," the statement read.

Message to President Tinubu

The PDP urged President Tinubu to use the remaining two years of his administration to "redeem his image as a leader by being more sensitive towards the wellbeing of Nigerians" in line with the selflessness and submission to Allah's will that Eid-el-Kabir teaches.

The party also encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope but to remain patriotic, continue sharing with one another during these challenging times, and pray constantly for divine intervention in the nation's affairs.

"The PDP felicitates with Nigerians and wishes the nation a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration," the statement concluded.
