The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called on governments at all levels to ensure Nigerians feel the impact of democratic governance as Muslims across the country celebrate this year's Eid-el-Kabir.

In a statement signed by National Chairman Dr. Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, IPAC emphasized that government must fulfill its constitutional obligation as stipulated in Section 14(2)b of the 1999 Constitution, which states that "the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government."

Call for Patriotism and Unity

The Council urged Muslims to use the Sallah celebration as an opportunity to pray for peace, love, tolerance, and national unity. IPAC stressed the importance of patriotism in redirecting Nigeria toward progress and prosperity.

"This is the only country we can call our own, we must join hands to build a strong, virile, united, progressive, equitable and inclusive democratic society where no one is left behind," the statement read.

IPAC further noted that Nigerians deserve dividends of democracy to alleviate their suffering following the ongoing economic reforms by the Federal Government, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy.

Condolences Over Niger State Flooding

The Council expressed condolences to the government and people of Niger State over the recent devastating flood that claimed over 150 lives, displaced thousands, and submerged houses and farmlands in Mokwa.

"Our hearts go out to those affected by this disaster trusting God to console, comfort and strengthen them in this difficult time. We urge governments at all levels to be proactive to avoid a recurring of this tragedy," IPAC stated.

The organization also appealed to citizens to support victims of the flooding disaster.

Urgent Call to Address Insecurity

IPAC called on the Federal Government to take immediate steps to halt killings across the country, particularly in Benue State. The Council emphasized that sustainable democracy and development cannot exist without security.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with their families in this period of grief. Citizens want fruits of democracy not carnage," the statement added.
