A former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yauri Local Government Area, Alhaji Rabiu Suleiman Gulma, has publicly called on former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to throw his hat into the ring for the 2027 Kebbi State governorship election.
Speaking to journalists in Yauri on June 5, Gulma emphasized that Malami's extensive experience in governance and significant national exposure make him an ideal candidate to lead Kebbi State.
"Though he has not declared interest, we believe Malami is the kind of leader Kebbi needs. His track record speaks for itself," Gulma stated during the interview.
The former local government party chairman revealed that he and other Malami loyalists are ready to commence consultations and mobilize support across all 21 local government areas of the state should the former Justice Minister indicate interest in contesting.
According to Gulma, numerous APC stakeholders throughout Kebbi State share the optimism that Malami could be instrumental in restoring unity within the party ranks while bringing fresh perspectives to the state's development agenda.
The call comes amid growing political realignments in Kebbi State as various political blocs begin early preparations for the 2027 electoral cycle. Malami, who served as Attorney General under former President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, has yet to make any public statement regarding his political ambitions for 2027.
Political observers note that this early endorsement signals the commencement of political maneuvering in Kebbi State, with prominent figures being positioned for key roles in the next electoral cycle.
