The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, will deliver the distinguished personality lecture at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife on Thursday, June 4, 2025.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Wike was invited to speak on the topic "Nigeria of Our Dreams" at the prestigious event.

The lecture will take place at the Oduduwa Hall on the OAU campus. The invitation letter, dated April 14, 2025, and signed by the OAU Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. K. A. Bakare, highlighted the significance of the platform.

Platform for Distinguished Leaders

"This lecture is an esteemed platform through which the University engages accomplished leaders and eminent personalities whose contributions to public service and national development are widely acknowledged and deeply valued," the letter stated.

The university's council and management unanimously resolved to invite Wike "in recognition of your distinguished career in good administration, governance, and infrastructural development, as well as your unwavering commitment to the rule of law, and your impactful leadership across all sectors of our national life."

While the suggested topic is "Nigeria of Our Dreams," the minister was given the liberty to choose any other topic of his preference.

We believe that your presence and insights will not only contribute to knowledge but will also inspire a renewed sense of purpose in our collective quest for excellence in university governance.

The lecture is expected to draw attendance from academics, students, and political stakeholders interested in Wike's perspective on Nigeria's future and national development.

This appearance adds to Wike's growing profile of public engagements since assuming office as the FCT Minister, where he has been noted for his infrastructure development initiatives and administrative reforms.
