A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has called for the immediate expulsion of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, from the party over alleged anti-party activities.

Dr. Tom FredFish, Chairman of PDP Advocate for Peace and Justice (PAPAJ), made this demand on Wednesday while addressing journalists in Uyo, directly challenging Wike's recent assertion that no one has the power to remove him from the party.

FredFish insisted that Wike has consistently worked against PDP interests, particularly after failing to secure the party's presidential ticket in 2023, constituting clear violations of the party's constitution, ideals, and principles.

Questioning Wike's Loyalty Claims

The Akwa Ibom politician directly challenged Wike's claims of working for the party's benefit, questioning the nature of such contributions.

"If Mr. Wike says he is working hard for the party, the right question that Nigerians should ask him is what kind of hard work is he doing for the PDP? Is the hard work positive or negative?" FredFish questioned.

He further criticized Wike's actions following the 2023 presidential race: "How can a man who has been working against the interests of the party after he failed to clinch the PDP ticket in the 2023 presidential race still have the temerity to say he is working for the interest of the party?"

Allegations of Anti-Party Activities

FredFish accused Wike of actively undermining the PDP during the 2023 presidential election and orchestrating the defection of 27 Rivers State House of Assembly members loyal to him from PDP to APC.

"As far as the PDP Advocate for Peace and Justice is concerned, Mr. Wike was appointed to destroy the PDP and he's doing the job very well. He should not expect party faithful across the country to clap for him for compromising the efforts of the party leadership," FredFish stated.

The PDP chieftain also claimed that Wike has consistently "de-marketed" the party and used demeaning language toward PDP leaders, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

Call for Constitutional Action

FredFish called on senior party figures including the PDP Board of Trustees Chairman Senator Adolfus Wabara, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Senate President David Mark to mobilize the National Working Committee against Wike.

He specifically urged them to "invoke sections 10(6), 57 and 58 of the PDP Constitution, as amended in 2017, for which he (Wike) should be expelled under Section 59 of the PDP Constitution."

This development adds to the ongoing internal conflicts within the PDP, particularly concerning Wike's position and influence within the party despite his current role in the APC-led federal government.
