The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 1 headquarters in Kano, AOG Garba Ahmed, has issued directives for comprehensive security arrangements across Kano and Jigawa states as Muslims prepare to celebrate Eid el-Adha.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by CSP Bashir Muhammad, the zonal public relations officer, the heightened security measures aim to ensure thorough protection of lives and properties during and after the festive period.

AIG Ahmed encouraged celebrants to use the occasion as an opportunity to pray for peace and security across the zone and Nigeria at large. He emphasized the importance of citizen cooperation with police and other law enforcement agencies.

"Providing useful information that will assist in the protection of lives and properties is crucial during this period," the statement highlighted, underscoring the collaborative approach to security.

The directive comes as Nigerians prepare to join Muslims worldwide in celebrating one of Islam's most significant religious festivals, characterized by large gatherings and increased movement across the states.

Zone 1 Police Command oversees security operations in both Kano and Jigawa states, areas with significant Muslim populations that typically observe elaborate Eid celebrations.
