Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves has publicly expressed his desire for Portugal teammate Bruno Fernandes to join him at the Saudi Pro League club amid reports of a staggering £700,000-per-week offer on the table.
Fernandes, currently Manchester United's captain, is reportedly considering a move to Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal prepared to offer him a lucrative package worth approximately £200 million over three years.
Speaking to Portuguese publication A Bola, Neves made it clear he would welcome his compatriot to the Saudi club. "I recommend all the players in the national team, of course," Neves stated.
"Portugal has produced a lot of talent and continues to do so. We are a lucky country in that respect. We are also very hard-working. A very small country but one that has produced excellent players. I would like to have any player from the national team in my team," he added.
The potential transfer comes at a critical time for Manchester United, who recently appointed Ruben Amorim as their new manager. Reports suggest Amorim is keen to retain Fernandes, who has been a pivotal figure at Old Trafford since his arrival in January 2020.
Fernandes' future became the subject of intense speculation following Manchester United's defeat in the Europa League final, with rumors suggesting Al-Hilal had submitted a formal offer of around £80 million for the midfielder's services.
The Portuguese international is now faced with a significant career decision – remain at Manchester United under the new management or accept the life-changing financial package being offered in Saudi Arabia.
If Fernandes does make the move, he would join a growing list of high-profile players who have been attracted to the Saudi Pro League in recent years, further enhancing the competition's global profile and ambitions.
Manchester United fans will be anxiously awaiting Fernandes' decision, as losing their captain and creative lynchpin would represent a significant blow to the club's rebuilding plans under Amorim.
