The highly anticipated international friendly match between Nigeria's Super Falcons and the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon has been rescheduled for Tuesday, marking the third change to the fixture date.

According to information released on June 1, the match has faced multiple postponements due to logistical challenges, primarily the late arrival of the Cameroonian contingent to Nigeria.

Initially, both teams were scheduled to compete in a double-header friendly with the first match set to take place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Friday. Following the first postponement, organizers had agreed to consolidate the fixtures into a single friendly match at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta on Monday.

However, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) did not approve the Monday date, necessitating a further postponement to Tuesday.

Background of the Fixture

This friendly match comes as part of both teams' preparations for upcoming international competitions. The Super Falcons, under the guidance of Coach Randy Waldrum, have been active in recent months with Olympic qualifiers against Cameroon earlier in the year.

The Nigeria-Cameroon rivalry in women's football has been one of the most competitive on the continent, with both teams regularly contending for African championships.

Football enthusiasts across Nigeria who have been eagerly awaiting this clash will now have to wait one more day to see the Super Falcons in action against their Central African opponents.

The Nigerian Football Federation is expected to provide further updates regarding match time and other arrangements for the Tuesday fixture.
