Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has firmly dismissed concerns about his family following a viral video circulating on social media, describing the resurfaced footage as politically motivated.

Speaking on the sidelines of former Deputy Governor Obong Nsima Ekere's birthday celebration in Uyo, Governor Eno expressed dismay that the video, which captures an incident that occurred shortly after his wife's death last year, was being recirculated just as his administration approaches its second anniversary.

"My family is intact and you can see all of them," the Governor stated. "The event you are talking about took place immediately after my wife died last year, so why is it surfacing now on the eve of our second anniversary when we are celebrating the milestone we have achieved?"

Governor Eno acknowledged the timing of the video's reappearance suggests deliberate attempts to distract from his administration's achievements. "That teaches me that there are detractors around. My family is intact, that's Jane herself there. We are a good family," he affirmed.

The Governor also highlighted the emotional toll such incidents take on families dealing with grief. "The pressure on the kids when they lose a loved one could be traumatic and we must know that," he explained.

Making a personal appeal, Governor Eno urged the public to respect his late wife's memory. "What I can only appeal to everyone is that they should not bring back the sad memory. Allow my wife's peaceful soul to rest in peace. I can't be distracted, I remain focused."

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to serving Akwa Ibom people despite what he perceives as political attacks. "I don't wish what happened to me to happen to anyone else. People throwing this thing around, if that is what they wish for themselves, I wish them good luck," he said.

He emphasized that certain boundaries should be respected even in politics: "Even in politics, the family should be off limit."

During the event, Governor Eno also congratulated Obong Nsima Ekere on his 60th birthday, commending the former deputy governor for his contributions to both the state and the country.
