Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has publicly addressed allegations made by his daughter Jane, who claimed in a viral video that he attempted to use her for ritual sacrifice.

Speaking to journalists in Uyo, the state capital, Governor Eno dismissed the allegations, stating that his family remains intact despite the controversy. He attributed the circulation of the video to political opponents attempting to distract from his administration's achievements.

"My family is intact and you can see all of them here. The event you are talking about took place immediately my wife died last year, so why is it surfacing now on the eve of our second anniversary when we are celebrating the milestone we have achieved?" the governor questioned.

In the controversial footage, Jane Eno had made serious allegations against her father, claiming that he should be held responsible if anything happened to her. She expressed fears of meeting the same fate as her mother and brother, who she alleged died under suspicious circumstances.

"That teaches me that there are detractors around. My family is intact, that's Jane herself there. We are a good family," Governor Eno stated, indicating that his daughter was present during his address to journalists.

The governor maintained that the timing of the video's circulation was suspicious, coming just as his administration was marking its second anniversary. He emphasized his commitment to remaining focused on governance despite the controversy.

"I can't be detracted, I remain focused. I will continue to serve Akwa Ibom people," he affirmed.

Governor Eno also made a broader appeal regarding political discourse, stating, "Even in politics, family should be off limits," suggesting that involving family members in political attacks crosses an ethical boundary.

The governor did not address the specific allegations regarding the deaths of his wife and son mentioned in his daughter's video, focusing instead on the timing of the video's release and its political implications.
