A prominent lawyer and member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Paul O. Onota, Esq., was tragically killed on Friday when a speeding vehicle struck him in Delta State.

The fatal incident occurred around 3:58 p.m. on Friday near the Udu Local Government Council Secretariat. According to reports, Onota was crossing the road when the vehicle hit him with such force that his body was left mangled at the scene.

The Udu branch of the NBA, where Onota was an active member, has been plunged into mourning following the sudden and tragic loss of their colleague.

Okakuro Akpokona Omafuaire, Esq., the NBA Udu branch Publicity Secretary, expressed shock over the incident, describing it as unexpected and devastating.

"It's shocking and saddening. This is not the kind of news we were expecting to hear. This is a man who was so gentle," Omafuaire stated.

He further lamented, "Having gone to court and returned just yesterday, this is something we cannot accept. The driver who killed him should be held responsible for his crime."

As of the time of this report, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, has not responded to calls or text messages seeking confirmation of the incident.

The identity of the driver and other details surrounding the circumstances of the accident have not yet been disclosed by authorities.
