Strasbourg forward Emanuel Emegha has declared his intention to represent the Netherlands at international level, turning down the opportunity to play for Nigeria or Togo.

The 22-year-old striker, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea, was eligible to represent all three nations—the Netherlands through birth and Nigeria and Togo through his parents.

Speaking on SUPERGAANDE's YouTube channel, Emegha expressed confidence in his ability to make a significant impact with the Dutch national team.

"I believe one hundred percent that I can have an impact on Oranje. I'm a different type of striker than the others," Emegha stated. "I don't shortchange anyone, everyone is good. I've respect for everyone."

The forward has been in impressive form during the 2024/25 French Ligue 1 season, scoring 14 goals and providing 3 assists in 27 appearances for Strasbourg.

His stellar performances have caught the attention of Premier League club Chelsea, who are reportedly interested in securing his services ahead of the upcoming season.

Emegha's decision comes as a blow to both the Nigerian and Togolese national teams, who could have benefited from his goal-scoring prowess as they look to strengthen their squads for future competitions.

The striker will now focus on earning his first senior cap for the Netherlands, having previously represented the country at youth level.
