Prince Kanu, brother of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has strongly refuted reports claiming that his brother admitted to smuggling a transmitter during court proceedings.

In a statement released on social media, Prince Kanu described the allegations as "completely false" and expressed disappointment that media outlets would spread such misinformation about the ongoing case.

"To set the record straight, such event never occurred in court today or even the previous court sittings, and was never even mentioned by the prosecution's witness," Prince Kanu clarified in his statement.

Concerns Over Judicial Process

Prince Kanu condemned the spread of the false information, describing it as "a violation of the judicial process" and urged the public to be wary of unverified reports regarding his brother's ongoing trial.

"Faves, remember what I told you, anything you get on my page concerning the ongoing court case is valid, 💯 authentic and true. If it's not coming from my page, be careful!" he advised followers.

The statement suggests that misinformation might be deliberate attempts to influence public perception of the case. Prince Kanu noted that "when they notice they are losing out, they'd start manufacturing things that never happened, or try desperately anyway possible to twist the truth or change the narrative to their favor."

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in detention facing multiple charges, has attracted significant media attention throughout his legal proceedings. His case continues to be closely followed across Nigeria and by international observers.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the accuracy of reporting on high-profile court cases in Nigeria and the potential impact of misinformation on public perception and the judicial process.
