The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has approved the appointment of Justice Babatunde Adeniran Adejumo as the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJI). The appointment takes effect from August 1, 2025.
According to a statement confirming the appointment, Justice Adejumo's selection followed his endorsement by the Board of Governors of the National Judicial Institute, which is under the chairmanship of the CJN.
Justice Adejumo, who previously served as the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria until his retirement in 2019, will succeed Justice Salisu Garba Abdullahi, whose four-year tenure as Administrator concludes on July 31, 2025.
The appointment was made in accordance with the provisions of the National Judicial Institute Act, following due consultation with the Board of Governors.
CJN Acknowledges Outgoing Administrator
Justice Kekere-Ekun expressed appreciation to the outgoing administrator, Justice Abdullahi, for his "tireless commitment and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the institute and the Nigerian judiciary as a whole."
Mr. Tobi Soniyi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the CJN, stated that Justice Adejumo's experience and deep understanding of judicial administration are qualities expected to enhance the Institute's efforts in promoting judicial capacity development and institutional innovation.
