Former Tottenham Hotspur attacker Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo's major problem is his tendency to overshadow the personality of any coach he works with, making senior managers reluctant to collaborate with the Portuguese star.

Mido's comments come amid speculation that Ronaldo, 40, is looking to leave Al-Nassr after reportedly indicating his time in the Saudi Pro League is "over."

"Ronaldo's problem is that he cancels out the personality of any coach he works with, unlike other players like [Karim] Benzema," Mido said, as quoted by Kooora.

The Egyptian further elaborated on the contrast between Ronaldo and his former Real Madrid teammate: "Benzema is also a great player, but he gives the coach his due and respect, and knows his role well. I challenge any major coach to find someone who would want to work with Ronaldo or welcome leading Al-Nassr in his presence."

Ronaldo has had a history of public disagreements with managers, most notably with Erik ten Hag during his second stint at Manchester United, which ultimately led to his departure from Old Trafford after publicly criticizing the Dutch manager.

Mido also suggested that Ronaldo's move to Saudi Arabia was not by choice but necessity: "Ronaldo came to Al-Nassr after European clubs closed their doors to him."

The former Premier League player went as far as claiming that even successful European managers would decline opportunities to coach Al-Nassr while Ronaldo is there: "Even Simone Inzaghi [Inter Milan manager], if offered to coach Al-Nassr while Cristiano [Ronaldo] was present, wouldn't accept."

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner joined Al-Nassr in December 2022 following his controversial exit from Manchester United. Despite his prolific goal-scoring record in Saudi Arabia, rumors about his potential departure have intensified in recent weeks.

Ronaldo has yet to publicly respond to Mido's comments or confirm his future plans beyond Al-Nassr.
