FiberOne, Nigeria's largest fiber broadband provider, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his administration's two-year milestone, specifically highlighting the government's achievements in advancing Nigeria's digital economy and broadband infrastructure.
In a statement signed by CEO Lanre Ore, FiberOne praised the administration's bold reforms and strategic investments in national development, with particular emphasis on digital transformation initiatives.
"Among other major achievements during the first two years, including fiscal reforms, power sector revitalization, and initiatives to attract foreign direct investment, President Tinubu's leadership in accelerating Nigeria's digital economy and broadband infrastructure rollout stands out significantly," the statement read.
Digital-First Agenda
The company commended the government's commitment to the National Broadband Infrastructure Project, which aims to deploy over 125,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable nationwide by 2027. According to FiberOne, this initiative will help bridge the connectivity gap between urban and rural communities.
FiberOne also acknowledged the productive collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), which has improved the regulatory environment, enabling internet service providers and telecom companies to expand coverage and deliver faster, more reliable internet services.
The statement highlighted recent figures from the National Bureau of Statistics showing that the telecommunications industry contributed over ₦3.3 trillion to Nigeria's GDP in Q1 2025, which FiberOne described as "a testament to the positive impact of the administration's broadband policies and infrastructure investments."
FiberOne's Commitment to Digital Expansion
The broadband provider reaffirmed its commitment to expanding high-speed internet access across Nigeria, emphasizing that "fiber broadband is not just a luxury, it's a necessity."
The company outlined several ongoing initiatives, including extending last-mile fiber broadband to millions of homes and businesses in both metropolitan and rural areas, deploying next-generation WiFi 6 routers, and aligning with the Federal Government's 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme.
Through its FiberOne Training Academy (FOTA), the company provides free training and upskilling opportunities to prepare young Nigerians for technical careers in telecommunications and ICT, supporting both national objectives and ensuring a pipeline of skilled professionals for Nigeria's digital transformation.
"As Nigeria continues its journey toward becoming a digitally empowered economy, FiberOne reaffirms its commitment to collaborating with public and private stakeholders to deliver internet that empowers people, fuels businesses, and drives economic prosperity," the statement concluded.
