Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole has backed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to be included in Enzo Maresca's starting lineup when the Blues face Real Betis in the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) final on Wednesday.

Chelsea have already arrived in Poland ahead of the showdown at the Estádio Municipal de Breslávia, where they will be looking to cap off their season with silverware after securing a fourth-place finish in the Premier League and qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League.

Speaking to Football.London, Cole emphasized the importance of fielding a stronger side for the final, particularly highlighting Dewsbury-Hall's contributions throughout the Conference League campaign.

"I think they've got to, he's got to play a stronger side. And that might mean Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall playing," Cole stated. "Because you're going to need somebody who's a little bit... I think he's been fantastic, first of all, through this competition."

"It might mean he starts this game because he's right for this game," the former Chelsea star added.

Dewsbury-Hall joined Chelsea last summer in a deal reportedly worth £30 million from Leicester City, where he previously worked under current Blues manager Maresca. Despite his talent, the English midfielder has been primarily utilized in cup competitions rather than Premier League fixtures this season.

Maresca has typically fielded fringe players throughout Chelsea's Conference League campaign, but is expected to select a stronger lineup for the final against Manuel Pellegrini's Real Betis as the London club aims to add European silverware to their cabinet.

The match kicks off on Wednesday evening with Chelsea looking to end their season on a high note by claiming the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy.
