The Referee Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has suspended referee Adebayo Qudus from officiating in the Nigeria National League (NNL) following controversial decisions during a recent match.

According to a statement signed by Ameenu Mohammed, Qudus was suspended after his performance in the NNL clash between Gateway United and Sporting Lagos came under severe scrutiny.

The referee was accused of awarding an "unjustified penalty" and making several decisions that reportedly violated the Laws of the Game. These controversial calls allegedly caused significant disruption and raised questions about the match's integrity.

"Your actions and performances did not only negatively affect the integrity of refereeing but equally brought the game to disrepute," the NFF stated in its official letter to the referee.

The football governing body emphasized that the suspension was implemented to protect the credibility of Nigerian football and to send a strong message against poor officiating in the league.

This development comes as the NNL, Nigeria's second-tier football league, continues to face scrutiny over officiating standards. The NFF's decisive action highlights growing efforts to improve refereeing quality and maintain the integrity of domestic football competitions.
