Nigerian actress Adunni Ade has threatened legal action against media outlets that published reports claiming her beauty hasn't earned her a partner.
The 48-year-old actress took to social media platform X to refute the widely circulated reports that suggested she had blamed her single status on her beauty. These reports, which appeared over the weekend, were published without citing any verifiable source.
In her statement, Ade issued a 24-hour ultimatum to all platforms that published the story, demanding they take down what she described as "fake news."
"I kindly request you to take down this post within 24 hours to prevent further action involving my legal team," the actress stated.
Ade accused the media outlets of spreading misinformation solely to generate engagement. "I don't appreciate the fact that you are using my name to peddle false news and articles with no verifiable source just to generate engagement," she added.
This incident highlights the growing concern about misinformation in entertainment reporting and the challenges celebrities face in managing their public image in the digital age.
Adunni Ade, known for her roles in numerous Nollywood productions, has been vocal about various industry issues in the past, including previously stating that Nollywood filmmakers pay actors "peanuts" and sharing her experience of being molested on set.
