The Niger State Police Command has successfully rescued four kidnap victims who were abducted in February from villages in Sarkin-Pawa, Munya Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the victims escaped from their captors on May 22, 2025, around noon, following sustained pressure from joint security operations in the area.

The rescued individuals have been identified as Deborah Daina, Gambo Amos, Cyprus Titus, and Satti Iko. They were part of a group of five people kidnapped during an attack on Hayin-Dogo and Dangunu villages on February 20, 2025, at approximately 10 p.m.

"One Usman Daina, who was among those initially abducted, had been released after two days in captivity. Since then, joint security teams have been mounting pressure through different clearance and rescue operations to secure the release of the remaining victims," SP Abiodun explained.

Following their escape, the victims received medical attention at a hospital before being reunited with their families after their three-month ordeal.

The Commissioner of Police for Niger State Command, CP Adamu Elleman, has commended the joint security team for their display of gallantry that led to the successful rescue operation.

CP Elleman reassured residents of Niger State that the safety of lives and property remains a priority for the Police and other security agencies operating in the state.

This rescue operation highlights ongoing efforts by security forces to combat the kidnapping crisis that has affected several communities in Niger State and other parts of northern Nigeria in recent years.
