President Bola Tinubu's appointment of former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shehu Shema, as Chairman of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) has been praised as a strategic move that will bring positive transformation to the Federal Capital Territory.
The Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir, who also holds the title of Wazirin Kasar Hausa, made this observation in a statement issued on Saturday. He expressed delight that President Tinubu's selection aligns with his administration's commitment to appointing qualified individuals to key positions.
"This appointment is a fitting recognition of Dr. Shema's unwavering commitment to public service, his sterling leadership legacy, and his deep-rooted patriotism," Gobir stated.
The traditional ruler noted that Shema's experience as a former Governor of Katsina State, combined with his traditional roles and contributions to grassroots communities, uniquely positions him to bring transformative leadership to the FCDA, an institution crucial to the ongoing development of Nigeria's capital territory.
"This appointment is a commendable step by Mr. President," Alhaji Gobir remarked, adding, "I have no doubt that Dr. Shema will bring to bear his visionary outlook and administrative expertise for the progress of Abuja and the nation at large."
The FCDA is responsible for the infrastructure development and administration of the Federal Capital Territory, making it a critical agency in Nigeria's governance structure.
Shema's appointment comes as part of President Tinubu's recent series of appointments to key government positions, which observers say reflects his administration's focus on experienced leadership in critical sectors.
