The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State has demanded the immediate release of its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sani Dododo, following a court ruling that led to his detention, describing the judgment as politically motivated and biased.

Speaking to reporters in Birnin Kebbi, the State Chairman of the party, Usman Bello Suru, condemned the Magistrate Court's decision, accusing it of favoring the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the state.

According to Suru, Dododo's comments during a recent radio programme, which prompted the legal action, were made in his official capacity as the party's spokesperson and reflected the PDP's collective position on the governance style of the APC-led government in Kebbi.

"The judgement is a direct affront to the right of every citizen to speak truth to power," Suru stated. "We have mobilised legal experts to challenge this ruling and will continue to expose the failures of this administration and defend the people of Kebbi State."

Government Denies Involvement

The Kebbi State Government has, however, denied any involvement in the legal dispute between Alhaji Sani Dododo and Comrade Mohammed Usman Anache. In a statement released on Friday, the government clarified that the case is a personal matter between the two parties and not connected to Governor Nasir Idris or his administration.

"We want to make it categorically clear to the good people of Kebbi State that His Excellency, Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, is a true democrat who respects the rule of law," the statement read.

The government also noted that it only became aware of the matter through public discussions and emphasized that it had no role in the court proceedings, stating: "This administration is not involved in the case and should not be linked to it in any way."

The case appears to be part of growing tensions between the opposition PDP and the ruling APC in Kebbi State, with the PDP accusing the government of using legal mechanisms to suppress opposition voices.

The PDP has indicated it will pursue legal channels to secure Dododo's release while continuing its criticism of the state government's policies and actions.
