The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that several areas in Nasarawa State will experience a power outage on Saturday, May 24, 2025, due to planned routine preventive maintenance.
TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this information in a statement released on Friday. According to the statement, the outage will result from maintenance work on a 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer at the Akwanga Transmission Substation.
The maintenance is scheduled to take place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, affecting electricity supply to multiple areas served by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
Areas to be affected include Akwanga Town, Waterboard, Wamba, Power House areas, Alushi, Garaku, Gudi, Angwa Zakara, Wakama, and Nasarawa Eggon.
"Bulk power supply will be restored through the transformer as soon as maintenance is completed. This would enable AEDC to resume normal power supply to the affected areas," the TCN statement partly reads.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to make necessary arrangements to mitigate the impact of the temporary power disruption during the maintenance period.
The TCN has assured that power supply will be promptly restored once the maintenance work is concluded, allowing AEDC to resume normal electricity distribution to consumers in the affected regions.
