In a display of swift response and tactical efficiency, police operatives in Katsina State successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued three victims in Unguwar Dahiru, Funtua Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., when armed men suspected to be bandits invaded the community and abducted three residents, according to police sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama.

Upon receiving reports of the abduction, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Makera Division promptly mobilized the Area Patrol Command (APC) team to pursue the kidnappers. The rapid response team engaged the suspects in a tactical operation that resulted in the successful rescue of all three victims.

The victims, who sustained leg injuries during the confrontation, were immediately transported to the General Hospital Funtua for medical attention. Hospital sources indicate they are currently receiving treatment and responding well to medical care.

Security forces have intensified efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing assailants. This operation is part of broader security measures aimed at curbing banditry and restoring peace in the region, which has experienced recurring security challenges in recent years.

The successful rescue operation highlights the importance of prompt reporting by citizens and quick response by security agencies in combating kidnapping and other violent crimes in Nigeria's northwestern region.

Katsina State, like several other northwestern states, has been grappling with security challenges posed by armed bandits who frequently target rural communities for kidnappings and other violent crimes.
