Nigerian singer Kingsley Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, has made a passionate appeal to his colleagues in the music industry to show greater support for Nollywood, Nigeria's film industry.

During a recent interview with Hip TV, the 'Limpopo' crooner emphasized that musicians need to reciprocate the support they receive from movie stars, who often promote their songs and participate in dance trends.

"I think it's high time we [artists] support the movie industry," Kcee stated. "For me, those who know me know that I don't watch any other movie apart from Nollywood. I'm so into Nollywood movies. Sometimes, a lot of people laugh at me."

The singer shared a personal example of his commitment to supporting the industry, recounting how he recently granted free permission for a filmmaker to use his hit song 'Cultural Praise' in a movie production.

"A lady recently reached out to me that she was to use my song, 'Cultural Praise' in her movie and was asking how much it will cost and I gave her permission to use it for free. She can testify. That's the support," he revealed.

Kcee outlined several ways musicians can support Nollywood, including promoting Nigerian films on their social media platforms, patronizing movies, and collaborating with actors on various projects.

"We always want to have movie stars in our music videos, some musicians have also been in their movies, but I think we can do more. We need to support them a lot more. We can even promote their movies on our social media handles. Currently, I'm also not doing that, but we need to support them," he admitted.

The singer acknowledged the existing symbiotic relationship between both industries but stressed that musicians could be doing more to strengthen these ties.

"Randomly, you see them jumping on our projects and I think it wouldn't be a crime if we do the same," Kcee concluded.

This call for increased collaboration comes at a time when Nigeria's entertainment industry continues to gain global recognition, with both Nollywood and the music scene serving as cultural ambassadors for the country on the international stage.
