The Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (JSPCACC) has filed legal charges against Mr. Babandi Isah, the Managing Director of Jigawa Savings and Loans Nigeria Limited, over allegations of financial misconduct and abuse of office.
According to a statement released by Yusuf Suleiman, the Director of Education & Public Relations at JSPCACC, the commission initiated the legal action following a formal petition alleging serious financial improprieties by the bank executive.
"The commission is currently investigating a complaint of alleged abuse of office and misappropriation of funds belonging to Jigawa State Savings and Loans Nigeria Limited by its Managing Director, Mr. Babandi Isah," the statement read.
The allegations against Isah include breach of trust, official corruption, and awarding contracts without following due process. One notable case involves an allegedly unexecuted contract for the procurement of official vehicles for the financial institution.
Further accusations detail the devaluation and unauthorized sale of properties belonging to Jigawa Savings and Loans Ltd located at Shuwarin and along Maiduguri/Kiyawa Road. The MD is also accused of unauthorized partitioning of land belonging to the bank at 744 Housing Estate (Mobile Base) in Dutse, Jigawa State.
Additional allegations include diversion and non-remittance of PAYEE and withholding taxes to the Jigawa State Internal Revenue Service, among other financial irregularities.
The statement confirmed that based on these allegations, the Commission has formally charged the suspect to court, where the case will proceed according to legal protocols.
This case represents another significant anti-corruption effort in Jigawa State, as authorities continue to scrutinize the management of public funds and state-owned enterprises.
