Tottenham Hotspur ended their 17-year trophy drought by defeating Manchester United 1-0 in the UEFA Europa League final at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao on Wednesday.
Brennan Johnson's 42nd-minute strike proved decisive as the North London club secured their first European title since 1984 and their third Europa League trophy overall.
Former Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who left the club for Bayern Munich and recently won the Bundesliga with the German giants, took to social media to congratulate his former team.
"Congratulations @SpursOfficial," Kane wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah also joined in celebrating Tottenham's achievement, specifically acknowledging head coach Ange Postecoglou's impact.
"He did say he'd win in his second season. Congratulations!" Salah posted.
The victory marks a significant turnaround for Tottenham, who have struggled in the Premier League this season. Both finalists entered the match sitting 16th and 17th in the domestic league table, but Spurs' European triumph has now secured them a place in next season's Champions League.
This victory represents Tottenham's first major trophy since winning the League Cup in 2008 and provides a successful conclusion to what has otherwise been a challenging season under Postecoglou.
For Manchester United, the defeat adds further disappointment to their difficult campaign, with manager Ruben Amorim facing immediate pressure following the loss.
