The Progressive Governors Forum has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu as their sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The announcement came during the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday.
The motion for endorsement was moved by the forum's chairman, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, and seconded by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, demonstrating strong unity among the party's governors in support of Tinubu's bid for a second term.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, Governor Uzodimma emphasized their commitment to mobilizing resources and ensuring victory for President Tinubu in their respective states. The governors expressed confidence in Tinubu's leadership and ongoing reforms, pledging to deliver their states in the upcoming elections.
"We are fully committed to President Tinubu's vision for Nigeria and will ensure his victory across our states in 2027," Uzodimma stated during the endorsement.
This endorsement follows similar moves by other APC regional leaders, including the North Central governors who recently passed a vote of confidence in Tinubu's administration, praising his developmental initiatives and inclusive governance approach.
The Forum's backing further consolidates Tinubu's position as the APC's flagbearer for the 2027 presidential race, coming at a time when opposition figures are making significant political realignments.
The endorsement comes amid coalition moves by opposition figures, including former PDP Presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who are reportedly aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Political analysts view this early endorsement as a strategic move by the APC to present a united front ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive 2027 electoral contest.
