Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has offered tactical advice to manager Ruben Amorim ahead of Wednesday night's UEFA Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao.
Scholes, writing in his column for TNT Sports, suggested that Amorim should reposition captain Bruno Fernandes in midfield and start both Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho in the crucial match.
"I would try and start Amad and Garnacho in the Europa League final because they are Man United's two biggest goal threats, along with Bruno Fernandes," Scholes stated.
The former midfielder specifically recommended: "The best way might be to drop Fernandes back in the central midfield role alongside Casemiro, which has worked well in the past, especially in European games."
Scholes also predicted that Amorim would likely start Rasmus Hojlund up front, noting that the striker "has not been too bad in the Europa League."
The stakes for Wednesday's final are particularly high as the winner will secure qualification for next season's Champions League. This provides both teams with a crucial opportunity to salvage something from what has been a disappointing Premier League campaign, with both clubs currently positioned in the bottom half of the table.
Manchester United face a significant challenge, having lost all three of their previous encounters with Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham side this season.
The Europa League final kicks off on Wednesday night in Bilbao, with both teams desperate to end their season with silverware and secure European football for the next campaign.
