The Bauchi State Government has made the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) mandatory for all students in both public and private schools across the state, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
Mr. Jalaludeen Usman, the Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Education, explained that the directive aims to ensure all students completing basic education acquire the necessary certification to support their future academic advancement.
"The BECE certificate is a critical requirement for entry into senior secondary schools and other higher learning institutions," Usman stated. "Ensuring that students obtain this certificate will solidify their academic foundation and adequately prepare them for the next phase of their education."
According to the PRO, this policy forms part of broader educational reforms being implemented under Governor Bala Mohammed's administration to enhance the quality of education throughout Bauchi State.
"It's also geared towards equipping young people with the credentials and skills they need to succeed both academically and professionally," he added.
The Ministry has urged parents, guardians, and school administrators to ensure that all eligible students are properly registered and participate in the examination, underscoring the importance of compliance with this new educational requirement.
