Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has officially addressed swirling rumors about her health status, firmly denying claims that she has cancer.
In a recent statement, the actress explained that a clip from her TV show "Mercy's Menu" had been misinterpreted, leading to widespread concern among fans and colleagues.
"I do not have cancer. I noticed that a clip from my TV show 'Mercy's Menu' has been flying around, and I think it was cut. I said I had a cancer scare, meaning I had a swell around my neck," Johnson-Okojie clarified.
The mother of four had previously revealed during a conversation with veteran actress Joke Silva that she underwent thyroid removal surgery following what she described as a "cancer scare." This disclosure, coupled with her noticeable weight loss, had sparked intense speculation about her health condition.
"My doctor felt it was something serious - I had problems with my thyroid," she explained, adding that the surgery has necessitated lifelong medication.
The actress expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support she has received, noting that her phone has been "buzzing like crazy" with messages from concerned fans and well-wishers.
"I'm perfectly okay. Thank you for all of your calls and messages. I'm perfectly fine and I do not have cancer. I'm perfectly okay," she reassured her fans.
Johnson-Okojie's health journey began when her lastborn was just six months old, making it particularly challenging for her family. The thyroid removal has resulted in significant changes to her appearance, including weight loss that had become a topic of discussion on social media platforms.
