Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has encouraged teammate Robert Lewandowski not to give up on his pursuit of the LaLiga Golden Boot, despite trailing Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe by three goals with just one match remaining in the season.

Lewandowski, who has netted 25 goals this season, currently sits second in the race for the prestigious Pichichi Trophy behind Mbappe, who leads with 28 goals in what has been an impressive debut season for Los Blancos.

Speaking during Barcelona's celebrations after securing the LaLiga title with a 2-0 victory over Espanyol, Szczesny expressed optimism about his fellow Polish teammate's chances.

"All that's left is for Robert to win the Pichichi. Don't worry, there's two games left for Lewy to overtake Mbappe," Szczesny told Barca One, as reported by GOAL.

However, Lewandowski's task has become even more challenging after he failed to add to his tally in Barcelona's recent 3-2 defeat to Villarreal. The Polish striker now has just one final opportunity to close the gap when Barcelona face Athletic Club on May 25.

To claim the Golden Boot, Lewandowski would need to score at least four goals in the season finale while hoping that Mbappe does not increase his own tally in Real Madrid's remaining fixtures.

Despite the individual award still being up for grabs, Barcelona have already enjoyed a successful season under coach Hansi Flick, securing a domestic treble including the LaLiga title.
