LaLiga President Javier Tebas has identified Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr as the two players who deserve to win the prestigious 2025 Ballon d'Or award.
The winner of this year's top individual football prize will be announced in September, following Manchester City midfielder Rodri's triumph last year, when he edged out Vinicius for the coveted award.
"Ballon d'Or, It should be between Lamine Yamal and Vinicius Jr," Tebas stated when asked about his prediction for this year's winner.
Yamal's Impressive Season
The young Barcelona sensation has built a strong case for the award after a remarkable season in which he helped his club secure both LaLiga and Copa del Rey titles. Yamal has further enhanced his credentials by leading Spain to the Nations League final, showcasing his exceptional talent on the international stage.
Vinicius' Campaign
Despite having a decent individual season with Real Madrid, Vinicius' case may be weakened by his club's failure to capture major silverware. The Brazilian international ended the campaign without winning LaLiga, Copa del Rey, or the UEFA Champions League with Los Blancos.
The Ballon d'Or race has intensified in recent years, with the award increasingly recognizing both individual brilliance and team success. Rodri's victory last year marked a departure from the Messi-Ronaldo era that dominated the award for over a decade.
Football fans and pundits will be closely watching the final months of competition before the September announcement, as performances in summer tournaments could still influence the final decision.
