Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has etched his name in Galatasaray's history books after scoring his 25th league goal in the club's title-clinching 3-0 victory over Kayserispor on Sunday.

The 26-year-old striker, on loan from Napoli, found the net in the 26th minute of the match at Rams Park, further cementing his position as the Turkish Super Lig's top scorer this season.

According to statistics from Opta, Osimhen has joined an elite group, becoming only the third foreign player in Galatasaray's history to score 25 goals in a Super Lig season. He equals the record previously set by Bafetimbi Gomis in the 2017-18 campaign and Mauro Icardi in the 2023-24 season.

The Super Eagles star currently leads the Turkish Super Lig scoring charts with 25 goals, four ahead of his nearest challenger Krzysztof Piątek, who has 21 goals to his name.

Osimhen's impressive form extends beyond league play, with the Nigerian having netted a total of 36 goals and provided eight assists in 40 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray this season.

Sunday's victory was particularly significant as it secured the Turkish Super Lig title for Galatasaray in front of their home supporters. With just two matches remaining in the season, Galatasaray have built an unassailable eight-point lead at the top of the table, accumulating 89 points compared to second-placed Fenerbahçe's 81 points.

This achievement marks another milestone in Osimhen's increasingly impressive career, as speculation continues about his future following the conclusion of his loan spell from Napoli.
