Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho has firmly denied reports suggesting he held talks to become the manager of the Portugal national team, emphasizing his loyalty to his current club.

The 62-year-old Portuguese tactician addressed the speculation during a press conference following Fenerbahce's 2-1 victory over Eyupspor on Sunday, making it clear that no such discussions had taken place.

"Yes, I can deny that I had any meeting with the Portuguese Football Federation. I'm a loyal person," Mourinho stated categorically.

Recent reports had linked the former Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and AS Roma manager with potentially replacing current Portugal coach Roberto Martinez after the Nations League tournament. However, Mourinho's comments have put those rumors to rest.

Mourinho did reveal that he had previously been approached by another club in January, a situation he handled with transparency. "The only time I had direct contact with a club, I informed Fenerbahce. It was not now, it was in January. I had a meeting with a club. I did not accept the offer," he explained.

This clarification comes amid a period of speculation about Mourinho's future, with his name frequently linked to high-profile coaching positions across Europe. The veteran manager has been at the helm of Fenerbahce since 2024, where he continues to build his project with the Turkish club.

Mourinho's commitment to Fenerbahce will likely be welcomed by the club's supporters as they look to challenge for domestic and European honors under his guidance.
