The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 120 suspected internet fraudsters during coordinated raids across multiple locations in Lagos State.
According to a statement released by the commission's spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the operation was conducted by officers from the EFCC's Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 on Monday, May 19, 2025.
Oyewale revealed that the suspects comprise 95 males and 25 females who were apprehended following actionable intelligence and weeks of surveillance that linked them to various forms of cybercrime.
During the raids, EFCC operatives recovered substantial evidence including 26 luxury vehicles, assorted high-end jewellery, smartphones, laptops, and several documents believed to contain evidence of fraudulent activities.
"The suspects are currently undergoing further investigation and will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation," Oyewale stated.
This operation represents one of the largest mass arrests of suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos this year, highlighting the commission's intensified efforts to combat cybercrime in Nigeria's commercial capital.
The EFCC has continued to ramp up its operations against internet fraud, which has damaged Nigeria's international reputation and affected legitimate business operations in the digital space.
