The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially denied reports claiming the appointment of Senator Ugochukwu Uba and Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe as members of its National Working Committee (NWC).
In a statement issued on Saturday by Chief Arinze Ekelem, National Vice Chairman (South-East), the party described the reports as misleading, emphasizing that both individuals are not registered members of the SDP.
The statement specifically debunked claims that Senator Ugochukwu Uba had been appointed as the National Deputy Chairman (South) of the party, stating categorically that his name could not be found in the party's register.
"The South East zone of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in totality debunked the appointment of Dr. Ugochukwu Uba as the National Deputy chairman south of the party," the statement read.
Similarly, the party dismissed reports that Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe had been appointed Deputy National Chairman (North), reiterating that he is also not a registered member of the SDP.
"Neither Senator Ugochukwu Uba nor Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe are registered members of SDP," the statement emphasized.
The SDP characterized the reports as false information fabricated to create confusion within the party and urged its authentic members and the Nigerian public to disregard such claims.
This clarification comes as political parties in Nigeria continue preparations ahead of future elections, with the SDP positioning itself as a significant contender in the political landscape.
